In September 2008, I will participate in the Ironman event in Madison Wisconsin. This event consists of 2.4 Mile Swim, 112 mile bike and 26.2 mile run.

To other atheletes who have completed an Ironman, it is said to be one of the most signicant life changing events they have ever faced.

In accepting this challenge, I felt this would be a great opportunity to help change someone elses life by combining my effort with a scholarship fund, entitled the "Healing Hands/Ironman Scholarship Fund".

As a teacher of Massage Therapy, I have seen many people who are in situations in which they want to make life changes, but are unable financially to afford it. With your help, it is our hope that together we can raise awareness and build a SOHMAR scholarship fund.

CHANGING LIVES, ONE PERSON AT A TIME
Hello, my name is Faith and I want to tell you about my incredible journey. Four years ago my husband was lost in a tragic automobile accident. As a mother of 3 children, (one special needs child), I frantically tried to put together the pieces of our life, with no idea how I would be able to financially support my children on my own. I never really thought about what I wanted to do with my life, but I knew I wanted to help other people. Then, about two years ago my church told me about a scholarship fund that would enable me to attend the School of Holistic Massage and Reflexology.

In 2004 I graduated from SOHMAR and have built a solid career as a massage Therapist. My career as a massage therapist enables me to earn enough to support my family while giving me the flexibility to be there for my children when they need me.
