ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTOR
As a dedicated massage therapist and reflexologist, Michael McAleese had the vision to share his gift of healing with others. The School of Holistic Massage and Reflexology is dedicated to teaching holistic massage and reflexology by utilizing natural techniques that allow the body to heal itself.

From his early years, Michael felt a need to help others. After attending North Central Bible College in 1977, Michael worked with troubled teenagers, street gangs and homeless youth.

In 1992, Michael's calling led him to pursue a career as a certified massage therapist and reflexologist. He opened the Holistic Massage and Reflexology Center in 1994 in an effort to offer the benefits of alternative health care to those in need. He is certified in Therapeutic Massage, Sports Massage, Reflexology and Cranio Sacral Release.

As his private practice grew, so did his passion for teaching. He became an instructor at a well-known Massage School in the area and taught Spa Reflexology at several Cosmetology Schools. His passion and the increasing demand for massage therapist in the job market, led Michael and his wife Star to open the school in Downers Grove.

Well known in the community as a triathlete, massage therapist, and speaker Michael and his students regularly provide massage at a variety of sporting and organizational events.

HOW ARE WE DIFFERENT?
SOHMAR combines a variety of techniques that embrace physical, mental and spiritual healing. Our goal is to incorporate these techniques in a friendly, non-threatening environment. Class size remains small so we can work individually with each student.

Unlike other programs, there are no pre-requisites to complete beforehand. Hands-on instruction begins on day one! Classes are broken down into theoretical and practical segments. In an effort to provide students with with “real world” experience, they participate in monthly client clinics and a variety of other fun outside events.

EARN WHILE YOU LEARN
Because our classes meet one or two evenings a week, many of our students maintain their jobs while earning their certificates. Our flexible schedule is the reason working adults and those wanting to make a career change choose SOHMAR.

To help students build more confidence; we have developed internship partnerships with working professionals in the field. If the student chooses, they can participate in this program before graduation.

HOW DO I GET STARTED?
Certification takes approximately 12 months for massage, and 10 weeks for reflexology. Registration is on-going, so when you are ready, so are we! Class size is limited. Contact us today to schedule an appointment!
