Massage Certification - Philosophy & Objectives

The School of Holistic Massage and Reflexology combines a variety of techniques which embrace physical, mental and spiritual healing. Our goal is to incorporate these techniques while offering students friendly and fun classrooms. The hands-on training given by our experienced instructors helps to build confidence and prepare the student for their chosen career path.

The classes are broken down into theoretical and practical segments. It is our goal to present each class in a friendly, non-threatening environment while dedicating personal attention to each student.

Massage Certification Class
This course is 550 hours of intensive training in anatomy and physiology, massage techniques, and bodywork. We meet and exceed Illinois Licensure requirements and prepare you for state testing. Upon completion of this course you will receive a Certificate in Massage Therapy.

Objectives:
- Learn hands-on holistic massage
- Anatomy and physiology, pathology, and business ethics
- Benefits and contraindications of massage
- Development/understanding of physical, mental and spiritual healing (body/mind connection)
- Preparation for state testing and licensure

Homework: 10 to 15 hours per week is devoted to training/homework, including the practice of massage techniques on individuals. Critic sheets are filled out and signed by those you practice on. Includes field trips to work on athletes at sports events or other groups and monthly student/customer clinics. Internship program is available.
